This is an educational and practical session that will help female athletes to understand the concept of the pelvic floor/diaphragm relationship, and how to utilize this properly in your activities. We will discuss the importance of breath, posture, and strategy in lifting/exercise and help you to identify areas of improvement, and how to know if your system is not tolerating the load well, as well as signs of pelvic floor dysfunction.

Leanne Jacobs is a physiotherapist and a certified Pelvic Health expert, specializing in all things related to our sexual, urinary, and bowel functions in the pelvis.
This is an educational and practical session that will help you understand the concept of the pelvic floor/diaphragm relationship, and how to utilize this properly. We will discuss the importance of breath, posture, and strategy in lifting/exercise.
By attending, Leanne will help you to identify areas of improvement, and how to know if your system is not tolerating the load well, as well as signs of pelvic floor dysfunction.
Then, we will be implementing options for an effective strategy for lifting and exercising with use of breath/core activation. We will finish with practicing examples of core exercises using these new strategies, as well as incorporating concepts of pilates, and a demo on the pilates reformer.
