A MODERN APPROACH TO CHIRO
Our chiropractic team has embraced a more progressive approach to injury management, with longer, more detailed appointments to not only address the painful symptoms of an injury, but the underlying causes as well.
Along with our years of clinical experience, we use a wide variety of techniques that are catered to your specific needs depending on what injury or correction is needed.
Once we’ve assessed your specific situation, we will go through a detailed plan to outline a tailored treatment plan that suits your needs.
Whether you’re a high-performance athlete, a weekend warrior, or not an athlete at all, our promise is to get you back to doing what you love as quickly as possible while also crafting a long-term solution unique to you.
We work to integrate the newest and latest research to help our patients meet their own individual needs and goals. Using a wide variety of techniques, we work with a team approach to deliver fast and effective results.
Active Release Technique
A patented soft tissue therapy which treats muscles, trigger points, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and fascia. By manipulating the soft tissue, we can help to relieve tension, which greatly reduces joint stress and muscular pains as well as improves and restores overall function. The goal is to restore normal mobility and “glide” between muscular tissue and nerves.
A manual therapy that uses stainless steel tools to treat various types of soft tissue conditions. The tools are designed to identify the root of the problem as well as help to improve scar tissue, fascial restrictions, and range of motion. The goal of Graston is to help break the cycle of pain and dysfunction and create an optimal environment for tissue healing.
Intramuscular stimulation or dry needling involves a thin needle that is inserted into the belly of a muscle to stimulate a trigger point. This alternative therapy is extremely effective at releasing tissue tension or hard “knots” within a muscle, reducing pain locally as well as over a larger area. Conditions include: myofascial pain syndromes, repetitive trauma & overuse injuries.
Spinal manipulation is a holistic, non-invasive, completely drug-free path to healing the body naturally. Chiropractic treatment has been shown to help treat dozens of different conditions. Using gentle adjustments to your joints we can help improve your range of motion and decrease pain.
The feet are the gatekeeper to proper mechanics in the lower limb. For many, custom orthotics resolve foot, ankle, leg and lower back pain by correcting alignment, redistributing foot pressure, and improving balance. Orthotics offer customized heel and arch support and prevent foot issues like corns, calluses, and bunions.
K-tape is different from traditional taping methods and can be used in conjunction with treatment to help decrease pain and inflammation to promote tissue healing. It also provides input to the central nervous system, which provides feedback to decrease pain and cue proper form.

What our patients are saying
If you are in pain, Dr. Burns can definitely help. Years ago I tried a chiropractor and was very disappointed, Then I met Dr. Mike! He is fantastic! Very talented, very smart and completely committed to helping you get better. Have had him fix me a couple of times with old sports injuries and new issues, and he always gets it right! I would recommend [him] to anyone at any time!
I go see Melissa Young here and she is amazing. She works within my limits and comfort for treatment and listens to what I say. She is also able to explain things in ways I can understand. I saw her after my car accident and she did wonders on treating and managing my pain and injuries. You won't be disappointed in seeing her.
I've tried tons of different places for my various injuries and ailments, and Melissa Young is hands down the best chiro I've ever had. Back when I was training, if I got any sort of ache or pain, she would fix me up in no time. I no longer consider myself an athlete, but if I sleep funny, or go a little too hard in rec league soccer, I go back to The Bridge to get things sorted out.
Dr. Mike is one of the best chiropractors I've ever met. I'm always impressed with his skill set. He looks at the bigger picture to find the root of the problem rather than just treating the symptom. The facility that he works in is filled with a bunch of professional physiotherapists as well as sports therapists and they're able to work and complement each other. When you go in for an appointment, you know you're going to be taken care of.
What an incredible spot! I went to see the chiro, Melissa Young, and came away astounded. Hands down the best place for chiropractic and physiotherapy in Edmonton. The facility, the staff, and the treatment were all top notch. I have nothing but great things to say about The Bridge.
